AmpliTube ROCKS
I got in on a group buy offered by esoundz for AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix. The group buy grew to over 200 people so they threw in AmpliTube 2 and AmpliTube SVX Uno (SVX but with only one amp/cabinet model).
I normally play through a MESA Boogie Mk III Combo and think MESA makes the sweetest sounding tube amps anywhere - so I was prepared to be disappointed.
Instead, I was amazed. Its like, remember how back in the early days of synthesis we were all sure they were never going to emulate an acoustic piano - but now there are sampled and modeled pianos all over the place that are very credible?
Well, amp modeling is catching up to that point. This rig sounded way better than our other guitarist's Marshall (I'm not really a Marshall fan - but they do get that one good sound if you turn them way up).
I finished the audio support just before the AmpliTube shipped - I was using a Vox ToneLab LE and wanted to bring it into JambaLaya and have JambaLaya send the patch change commands for each song because the bank switching buttons on the ToneLab are a drag to use. But since I added audio input capability anyhow - I just fired up AmpliTube as an effect on channel 8, set it to listen to Guitar/Mic 1 on my UltraLight, dumped it to 7,8 out into my Roland KC-550 and I was floored!
Plus all the effects it comes with are really nice - not at all cheezy sounding. So there's a new fave.
