JambaLaya 1.1.8 Available

The big new feature here is Stereo o o o o o. Previous versions mixed left and right signals together so that both outputs were the same on the assumption that most live PA's are mono and sounds that incorporate panning effects would sound odd if you only heard one side. In particular, I liked dual mono outputs because I could send one to my amp as a monitor and the other to the main board.

However, some users apparently like stereo. Who knew? So I added a switch to go back and forth. Its on the main mixer channel. There's no individual channel panning (yet) but hopefully this will scratch somebody's itch. If nothing else, it sounds much nicer when practicing in headphones.

The other big feature is MIDI device resolution when loading a file. Previously, if the MIDI controller you used when you last saved the file was absent when you loaded a file, Jambalaya would just leave the input unassigned. This is a drag if you happen to go back and forth between controllers with different identifiers. Now you are prompted to specify a different device when a MIDI device goes missing and it will use that substitution everywhere. Which is awesome if you have fifty songs with four instruments each - that's 200 input selections you no longer have to reset.

This version fixes a few issues with midi message re-channelization, message delivery to external devices and a couple cosmetic bugs. I also increased the slop area on the range sliders so they're easier to grab.

As with all new versions, I wouldn't grab it half an hour before a gig and you should back up your old copy before downloading, just in case.

Have fun. Go play!
