Introducing Keyster - A Free MIDI Utility

Keyster.png

Keyster keeps your Mac from going to sleep when it is processing MIDI. For instance, I use Digital Performer to do recording, but DP fails to let the Mac know it is busy when MIDI is happening - so the screen occasionally goes dark while I'm just dinking around on the piano. I find this annoying. This functionality is built in to JambaLaya but JambaLaya isn't always running.

So I did something about it. I hacked up Keyster - a tiny little application that notices MIDI activity and keeps your Mac from falling asleep or turning on the screensaver. Launch it, flip it to the background, and ignore it. Now your MIDI keyboard works like your regular keyboard to wake up your Mac.

Download it here. My gift to you.

BTW, I'm not the greatest icon creator in the world - the pictures are fine but the masks are not so good. If anyone has any icon skills and wants to make a couple bucks or trade work for a license, please contact me.
